Redondo Beach mayor vetos CCA program as an "unnecessary financial risk"

Mayor Brand, along with Councilmembers Laura Emdee and Nils Nehrenheim, who voted against the plan, saw drawbacks such as the potential costs for getting out of the deal if it doesn’t work out.

“While I am a strong proponent of renewable energy and support the aggressive goal setting that has put California at the forefront of implementation of new technologies … I am concerned about exposing Redondo Beach to unnecessary financial risk associated with joining this particular Joint Powers Authority at this time,” Mayor Brand wrote in explaining his veto.
